Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State, has been praised by Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo for switching from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, Mbah announced his defection to the APC on Tuesday, stating that Enugu needed to unite with the federal government in order to develop more quickly.

When Keyamo visited Enugu a few months ago, he warned the governor that it would be a miracle for anyone to unseat him in future elections. He responded to the development on Tuesday by posting on his 𝕏 handle.

He called APC his “natural home” and commended Mbah for his progressive agenda.

“It would be a miracle for anyone to beat you in future elections,” Keyamo wrote when he visited Enugu a few months ago to introduce Enugu Air. We are grateful that you are currently working with President Bola Tinubu to further unity and growth in Enugu and the Southeast.

Assuring Mbah that the decision would bolster his political base in the state, the minister went on to characterize him as the “undisputed leader of Enugu APC”.

Prof. Udenta Udenta, a political strategist, has called the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defecting to the All Progressives Congress a show of weakness and lack of courage.

In an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday, Udenta reportedly said this in response to queries.

The Alliance for Democracy’s (AD) founding national secretary also denied rumors that the PDP was going out of business, emphasizing that the party is still powerful and politically active.

He insisted that the people, not specific leaders who leave the party for personal gain, were the source of the party’s identity and power.

Udenta went on to say that his prior assessment of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s possible comeback to politics was based entirely on political factors and lacked any inside knowledge.

“I didn’t speak as a spokesperson when I talked about the former president’s prospects,” he said.

He hasn’t stated the election’s political context. Even his party membership serves solely to make clear the nature of such membership.

“The PDP is a lively party if you choose to use it as a platform, despite a change in the upper echelons of the political elite, the governors, who for whatever reason decide to say, okay, we’re going to call it a day, we’re going to join the APC where we think their gluttony will power our own ambition.”
