A former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has started a campaign to oust President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 general elections......Read The Full Article>>.....Read The Full Article>>
His campaign began in June 2024 when he resigned from the party.
In a statement to the party titled “APC and The Future of Nigerian Democracy: Letter to Selected APC Leaders,” he said his reason for resigning was based on the lack of internal democracy and the inability of the party leadership to allow much-needed reforms within the party.
Lukman said he had gone back to the trenches to work with committed Nigerians who are interested in the survival and development of democracy in the nation.
Speaking in a recent interview on Channels TV, he disclosed that, like the military was kicked out of power 25 years ago, Nigerians will vote out President Bola Tinubu come 2027.
The APC has responded to his statements, stating that he has a history of “opportunistic politicking.”
In a statement on Tuesday, Felix Morka, spokesperson for the APC, said that since Lukman resigned as the party’s vice-chair in the north-west, he has “been sleepless in search of political relevance.”
“In his new self-assigned role, he alleges, without substantiation, that the APC ‘ruined the country in economic policies and corruption’ and called on opposition parties and Nigerians to vote out the APC in 2027,” he said.
“Such an empty and outlandish allegation is undeserving of any response, especially coming from a displaced political gaslighter.
