Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede and Falconets coach Moses Aduku are among the participants concluding the historic CAF B-License Coaching Course holding in Abuja.

Applause has continued to trail the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, for reviving the Confederation of African Football (CAF) B-License Coaching Course.

This is a major step towards enhancing technical capacity in Nigerian football, the first in eight years in Nigeria.

The ongoing programme, taking place at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, has brought together 25 coaches from across the country in a highly organized and resourceful learning environment.

Among other notable participants are former Super Eagles star Duke Udi, Enugu Rangers’ Felix Nwosu and Phinan Ozonweke, and Abia Warriors’ Igwe Erem.

Speaking on the significance of the course, one of the participants commended the NFF President, saying:
“Thanks to President Gusau’s leadership that prioritizes coaching education. We are not just getting coaching education, but quality education. I also appreciate our facilitators for their commitment to ensuring we get the best.”

He added that the absence of such advanced coaching programmes in recent years had hindered professional growth and limited opportunities for local coaches.

The lack of consistent and structured coaching education has long had a negative impact on football development in Nigeria.

Without properly trained coaches, grassroots talents struggle to develop their skills effectively, resulting in technical deficiencies that affect club and national team performances at higher levels.

The renewed emphasis on capacity building is therefore expected to bridge this gap and elevate the standard of the Nigerian game.

The CAF B-License course is part of a broader effort by the current NFF administration to rejuvenate coaching education.

Earlier in the year, the Gusau led NFF resuscitated the CAF C-License course for 30 female coaches and the CAF Instructors Course, which returned to Nigeria after several decades.

The ongoing course is organized by the NFF Technical Committee led by Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen, with resource persons including Dr. Terry Eguaoje, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Ambassador Henry Abiodun, Dr. Robinson Okosun, Mohammed Ameenu, and Emeka Amadi, among others.

The program will end in November with the 4th and final module coming up on 3rd November in Abuja where the coaches will be officially certified as CAF – B coaches.

This initiative has been widely praised as a vital step toward rebuilding Nigeria’s coaching structure and ensuring sustainable football development across all levels.
