Speaking to Man City’s in-house media, the midfielder reflected on that goal against his former side.
“Special, I think because Chelsea is a club that I really appreciate a lot and has given me a lot of confidence,” he said.
“I played there for five years so a club that will always be remembered by me. To play at Stamford Bridge is always nice, very happy that I can do it now in a City shirt and be part of this great squad.
“To score at Stamford Bridge is nice and a special moment for me.”
Kovacic moved to City in 2023, with Chelsea using the chance to cash in on the player with one year left on his contract.
Since the transfer, Kovacic has already won as many trophies with City as he did with Chelsea, including the Premier League title that avoided him at Stamford Bridge.
