Senator David Jimkuta, the chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, who represents the Senate, made the statement yesterday in Abuja while flagging off the 3.5 km road from arterial road N11 to Judges Quarters in the Mabushi area.

Jimkuta said the road was another milestone achievement, that Wike is one of the greatest things that has happened to this country, and praised President Tinubu for discovering Wike.

He said, “Today’s flag-off is another milestone achievement for the people of FCT and the renewed hope agenda. Wike is one of the greatest things that has happened to this country. Nigerians now know why Mr. President discovered him. Your Excellency, you make our job easy. That is why your budget takes less than 48 hours to pass.”

The Senator said that Wike’s budget is easy to handle because it is usually precise and straight to the point where recurrent is always lesser than the capital, no laptops, no foreign trips, and other duplications.

While flagging off the Mabushi section of the road, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike assured that he would not rest until every district was connected with good roads.

He said he had no choice but to develop the nation’s capital. “One thing that makes a city is a good road. Even lands in this area will appreciate, as will other economic activities.

“For a city like Abuja, we have no choice but to provide good roads. I assure the contractor of adequate provision to ensure the road is completed before May 2025. I know that the contractor has the capacity. We assure you we will not owe you on our own,” Wike assured the contractor.

Wike also noted that the president has ordered that every district in Abuja be connected. He said that their administration would not abandon any project.

In his goodwill message, Abdulrahman Ajiya, a member of the House of Representatives representing Abuja South, said the kind of development under Wike is unprecedented.

“We in the Reps will continue to support you; I also testify that you have been balancing in your distribution of projects,” Ajiya stated.

The Executive Secretary of FCDA, Shehu Hadi, gave an overview of the project and said the project was an inter-district road connecting Ahmadu Bello Way to the new bus terminal under construction.

He said the road would also open up development in the districts. The project is billed for delivery in May 2025, and Mr. President will commission it during his second anniversary.
