Kwankwaso spoke in reaction to the recent investigation carried out by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) on the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. The investigation, which cleared Matawalle of allegations of involvement in banditry, was commended by Kwankwaso.

According to Kwankwaso, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed on a national TV station that the NSA’s investigation concluded the allegations against Matawalle were “mere fabrications.”

Kwankwaso, however expressed vindication over his previous statements supporting Matawalle’s innocence on Banditry.

He said “With the investigation carried out and the statement of the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has clarified reasons the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle was not dismissed in the recent cabinet reshuffle”.

Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso commended President Tinubu for not succumbing to pressure from disgruntled elements seeking Matawalle’s removal.

“We the entire people from the North west in particular and North in general were happy that Mr President refused to do the bidding of those people who were desperate to get him removed as minister of defence,” he added.

The APC chieftain emphasized the need for northerners to rally behind the Minister of Defence in his efforts to eliminate the enemies of progress causing unrest in the region.

“With this declaration that exonerated him (Minister of Defence) from the act of armed banditry, it will be good for us in the North to pray for him and rally round him in his task to get rid of these enemies of progress causing unrest in the region,” Kwankwaso stated.

Kwankwaso also condemned the spread of false information and allegations, stating, “It was painful, sadden and lamentable that some people are just bringing out all kinds of fake things and allegations.”

He praised President Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “The president, I’m sure, has heard many stories about him. For him to be there shows that, as I have said, some of those things have been probed. They are not true.”

Kwankwaso further urged northern politicians to unite and support President Tinubu’s efforts to tackle banditry and other social vices, as he stressed that “By doing so, they can contribute to the region’s progress and stability.”
