Governor Mutfwang reassured party supporters that PDP governors, alongside critical stakeholders, are committed to a renewed strategy to strengthen and stabilize the party. He expressed gratitude to those in attendance, stressing the significance of the gathering in charting a forward path for the PDP. According to Mutfwang, this meeting went beyond the governors, drawing in party leaders and representatives from various states, all united in support of a common goal: ensuring the PDP remains a stable political force capable of restoring hope and vision to the country.

“While this is primarily a governors’ meeting, it’s uplifting to see party leaders and stakeholders from across the country here, united in our mission,” Mutfwang said. “Together, we’re strategizing not only for the stability of our party but to ensure the PDP’s ongoing role as a beacon of hope for Nigerians.”

Governor Mutfwang went on to reflect on Plateau State’s long-standing connection to the PDP, noting that the state hosted the party’s first-ever convention, which led to the election of Nigeria’s first President in the Fourth Republic. With pride, he described Plateau as the “Home of PDP,” and underscored the commitment to delivering on the party’s core values of social justice and empowerment for the people of the state.

“After years of ineffective leadership by the opposition on the Plateau, the people have welcomed their party back,” he added. “The PDP, together with myself, is committed to improving the lives of our people and upholding the party’s promise of social progress and equity.”

The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed, praised the party’s resilience and the loyalty of its members. He emphasized the unity within the PDP, assuring that despite minor challenges, the party remains solid, committed, and ready to offer Nigerians a government focused on positive change.

“Here on the Plateau, Governor Mutfwang has made us feel that Plateau is truly a place where everyone is welcome,” said Mohammed. “The PDP remains united and indivisible. Though we may face minor issues, we stand strong, with all organs and leaders committed to the same purpose. We’ll continue working together to deliver opportunities for better governance for Nigerians.”

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), also echoed this message of unity and purpose. He assured party members that PDP governors are resolute in their mission to rebuild the party and restore it to a leadership role on the national stage.

Several other prominent party members joined the gathering, including Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba State, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Illiya Damagum. This meeting marked a significant event for the party as it approaches the upcoming 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally scheduled for November 28 but postponed indefinitely. One of the main topics expected at the NEC meeting is the future leadership direction under Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Ilyas Damagum.

The PDP governors’ meeting has emphasized unity, planning, and commitment to providing Nigerians with a robust political alternative. Through focused efforts to stabilize the party and reconnect with the electorate, PDP leaders aim to present a strengthened front ready to fulfill its vision for a prosperous and unified Nigeria.
