The only female elected chairperson of Itas/Gadau LGC, Hajara Gidado and her deputy could not receive their certificates because they arrived late after the presentations had been concluded but was later presented with the certificate.
Chairman of BASIEC, Ahmed Makama presented the certificates to the chairmen and their deputies at the conference hall of the Commission along Ningi road, Bauchi in line with the provisions of the electoral laws.
He congratulated them for their victories at the polls stressing that it was the demonstration of their acceptability by the various people of their respective local government areas.
The BASIEC chairman stressed that the elections were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere thereby giving credibility and fairness to the exercise.
Makama charged them to uphold the sanctity of their elections by ensuring that they acted in line with all relevant legislation about local government administration.
In his remarks, Chairman, Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Electoral Matters, Adamu Abubakar Giade commended BASIEC for conducting what he described as free, fair and acceptable elections in the history of the state.
He however charged the chairpersons and their deputies to work with all the councillors irrespective of the ethno-religious and political parties differences stressing that the focus is on the development of the state.
Abubakar also charged them to uphold the vision of the present PDP administration on the Bauchi Project by complementing the developmental efforts of the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of the chairpersons and their deputies, Bauchi LGC Chairman, Mahmud Babamaji commemded BASIEC for conduct the election that brought them in as leaders of the third tier of governance in the state.
He assured that they will perform credibly well to justify their elections and make BASIEC proud of conducting the elections.
