This unfortunate disruption was attributed to the actions of a few overambitious candidates and uncooperative leaders who appear to prioritize personal ambitions over the integrity and transparency of the political process. Such behavior undermines the principles of fairness and democracy that the APC strives to uphold.
The three candidates who had been shortlisted after a rigorous evaluation process are:
1. Barr. Abraham Ogunsola
2. Hon. Julianah Akintayo
3. Hon. Muideen Akintande
These candidates had been selected based on merit and a thorough assessment of their capabilities and vision for the local government. However, the interruption led to a chaotic atmosphere, prompting several concerned leaders to walk out of the venue in protest. In the ensuing confusion, it was reported that thugs and hoodlums, allegedly sponsored by those against the fair conduct of the screening, took over the event, further escalating the situation.
The screening committee, tasked with ensuring a fair and transparent process, was led by Engr. Akintomide and included the following members:
– Baba Akintomide
– Odugbemi Rasheed
– Fatai Olayode
– Olubori Ayobami
– Aliu Ajibode
– Yomi Soledolu
Despite the setbacks, we believe the committee remains committed to upholding the integrity of the APC’s screening process.
