This initiative, part of the state’s Arisecare programme, aims to provide affordable healthcare services to all categories of people in response to challenges such as dwindling healthcare funding, poor integration of private health facilities, and over-reliance on government healthcare services.

Dr. Igbemi revealed that, following the scheme’s launch, the number of enrollees surged from 11,000 to over 24,000, and the agency has begun accrediting private healthcare facilities to be part of the scheme. Over 20 private facilities are currently being assessed for accreditation, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The scheme offers flexible payment options, with individuals paying N18,000 annually, while groups of more than ten people pay a reduced fee of N17,000. Families of six are charged N96,000 annually, equating to N16,000 per person, a plan designed to encourage more enrollments.

The scheme also provides free healthcare services to vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, the elderly (over 60 years old), and individuals with physical disabilities.
