In a significant display of solidarity, the Elders Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally apologized to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for the ongoing tensions between him and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The apology was delivered during the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress, where prominent elder Boma Iyaye led the charge, expressing regret over Fubara’s public disrespect towards Wike.

Iyaye emphasized that the Ijaw people are not accustomed to repaying good deeds with ingratitude. He urged Wike to continue considering them as brothers and to maintain his connection with the Ijaw community, acknowledging Wike’s pivotal role in helping the Ijaw ascend to the governorship of Rivers State.

Ferdinard Anabraba, Chairman of the Elders Forum, reiterated the sentiments expressed, highlighting that the current situation reflects poorly on Fubara’s leadership rather than the views of the Ijaw people. He lauded Wike as a beacon of hope for Rivers State and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, affirming that the Ijaw community values Wike’s contributions and leadership.

The Elders’ heartfelt apology underscores the importance of unity among the Ijaw people and their desire to move past the discord, reaffirming their respect and appreciation for Wike’s efforts in the region.
