In response to allegations of financial misappropriation from the 2023 presidential campaign, the National Working Committee of the Labour Party, LP, chaired by Julius Abure, has requested that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, look into the Party’s presidential candidates,   Peter Obi,   Aisha Yesufu, and Pastor Itua Ighodalo......Read The Full Article>>.....Read The Full Article>>

Abayomi Arabambi, the party’s national publicity secretary, announced on Wednesday during a news conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Dailytrend.ng gathered that the party claimed that Yesufu mishandled and diverted approximately ₦12 billion and $15 million in donations meant for the Labour Party’s campaign, together with Pastor Ighodalo and other collaborators.

Yesufu has refuted the accusations made against her, nonetheless.

In response, Arabambi said that Yesufu’s denials were an attempt to conceal the alleged financial malfeasance and that her remarks were an affront to the party’s leadership.

Additionally, he charged that Yesufu and her allies had defrauded the party by acting on behalf of Obi, a man he referred to as a “political merchant.”

Furthermore, Arabambi accused prominent Afenifere figures Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni of holding more than ₦600 million in Afenifere-related private accounts.

He said, “The trio of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni were involved in financial infractions totaling over ₦600m, which they have kept in private accounts and Afenifere accounts,”

“Peter Obi allegedly hired Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and this faction of Afenifere to commit looting, criminal conspiracy, and diversion of funds from the Labour Party’s presidential campaign while presenting themselves as elder statesmen.”

Arabambi emphasized the party’s dedication to accountability and openness and demanded that any bank accounts connected to the purported misbehavior be looked at.

Recall that Dailytrend.ng had reported that ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Labour Party, LP, appears to be trailing a destructive path as its National Chairman, Julius Abure, recently disowned its former Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.

In a move capable of destroying the party from within, the party’s National Executive Council canceled the automatic tickets previously reserved for Obi and Otti in the 2027 election while also nullifying a recent meeting convened by Otti that sought to restructure the party’s leadership.
