The court, presided over by Judge Abubakar Mukhtar, ruled that Okpebholo supplied false and forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the third defendant in the case, to support his governorship candidacy. The court emphasized that the submission of forged documents is a criminal offense and unjust to other contenders in the race.

The court order further states that Okpebholo stands disqualified from participating in the governorship election. The ruling underscores the seriousness of the allegations, with the court affirming that the offense tarnishes the integrity of the election process.

The ruling was issued in Abuja on the 20th of September, 2024, effectively halting Okpebholo’s bid for the governorship seat.
