Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a passenger, identified as Ogbole Henry, 42, with arms and ammunition while on transit in Edo State.
The spokesperson for the command, Moses Yamu, said the suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search operation on the Benin-Lagos highway.
He said that during a search of the vehicle, the suspect, who hails from Ewu, Esan Central Local Government Area of the state, was arrested with two locally fabricated pistols, 18 9mm live ammunition, and 10 live cartridges.
He added that a subsequent investigation led to the recovery of a pump-action shotgun and a Lexus RX 330 linked to the suspect.
According to him, other passengers on board were profiled and released to continue their journey.
He said that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of his criminal network.
