The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this announcement in a statement issued in Awka on Monday.
Ikenga noted that “on 7th December 2024, police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugu Ukwu, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a raid on a known criminal hotspot in Umunaga Village, Awka South LGA. During the operation, they arrested Okechukwu Chinwuko, aged 27, from Umunaga Village, and Ezenwa Chinedu, aged 22, from Umuneri Village. The officers recovered one pump-action gun, three live cartridges, a cutlass, various charms, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.
“The operatives also managed to rescue two female victims who had allegedly been subjected to sexual abuse by the suspects.
“Further interrogations revealed that the suspects had been renting firearms from Ekpo, prompting the police to take swift action to apprehend him.”
Ikenga added that the case will be brought to court upon the completion of the investigations.
