Full List Of African Player Of The Year Nominees Revealed

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the full list of nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards, highlighting the continent’s best footballers, coaches, and teams.

The awards recognise top performers who made remarkable contributions to African and global football between January 6 and October 15, 2025.

According to CAF, the shortlist celebrates exceptional talent and remarkable performances across Africa and beyond.

A panel made up of technical experts, coaches, former players, and media representatives carefully selected the nominees. Each category features ten outstanding names who made significant impacts for both club and country.

Among the biggest names on the list are Morocco/Paris Saint Germain defender, Achraf Hakimi and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, both of whom impressed for club and country. Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen also made the cut after another strong season with Galatasaray.

Other top contenders include Cameroon’s Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Fiston Mayele, Serhou Guirassy, Denis Bouanga, and Iliman Ndiaye, all of whom had standout seasons in Europe and Africa.

The CAF Awards 2025 ceremony will take place later this year, where winners will be officially crowned.

Recall that Ademola Lookman of Nigeria was named CAF Men’s Player of the Year in 2024 after a stellar season with Atalanta, becoming the latest Nigerian to win the award after Victor Osimhen in 2023.
