Fayose in a post on his Instagram page indicated that the reduced attention ahead of the polls could be due to the lack of trust Nigerians have in the system.
“Ondo state governorship election (selection) nobody is talking about it, nobody is debating about it because we all know the result already. INEC don kpai our moral,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.
17 political parties will participate in the Ondo State election slated for November 16 with the top contenders Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Agboola Ajayi all battling for power in the state.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Peace Committee and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar urged the party leaders and candidates to accept the outcome of the elections as long as it is adjudged to be free, fair, and credible, and to seek legitimate and peaceful means of addressing any concern that may arise thereafter.
“I want to call on all stakeholders to work assiduously in their capacities to ensure that peace reigns supreme during this election and that the Ondo state off-cycle election sets a precedent for other off-cycle elections to emulate.
