The woman, whose name FIJ has concealed on request, was abducted on December 2 alongside 11 others, all related to her husband, who were kidnapped on their way from a wedding ceremony after an informant ratted them out to the kidnappers.
A relative of the deceased who spoke to FIJ said that the kidnappers asked the woman and another hostage to go back to their family on Friday and shot them as soon as they started heading home.
“On Saturday, the villagers saw their corpses and buried them the following day. Her husband is nowhere to be found. The kidnappers are looking for him,” the source said.
“They stormed the house of the woman they killed on Saturday to abduct her husband but met only her corpse.”
A daughter of the deceased was still with the kidnappers because her father had yet to pay the ransom the kidnappers have been demanding since December, the source told FIJ on Thursday.
Earlier, Luka Magaji (pseudonym), a resident of Awon ward, told FIJ that the patriarch of the abductees was despondent because he did not know what to do to protect his family.
Magaji said the kidnappers demanded N200 million when they first contacted the missing man but later asked him to pay N25 million.
On December 19, Mansur Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, told FIJ he would call back with a response when contacted, but he had yet to do so at press time.
