The recent outbreak of flooding in Maiduguri was a horrific incident and unprecedented in the history of Borno State and the country at large. It is imperative that the National Assembly, as a branch of the government to demonstrate solidarity to the people of Borno State.

Individuals in Nigeria and worldwide are mourning the tragic incident an seeking ways to provide assistance to the victims .Nigerians are deeply empathizing and worrying with the plight of Maiduguri’s flood victims, sharing the torment and hardship they are facing at this critical time.

It is imperative that the 109 Senators in the upper chamber and 360 Members of the House of Representatives in the lower chamber of the National Assembly to take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of Maiduguri residents affected by the flood, by demonstrating solidarity, they should consider sacrificing their September salaries to support the victims who have lost properties, loved ones,houses ,and facing a deep trauma.

Although the National Assembly has expressed sympathy with the Borno State Government and its residents as well as urged the federal government to take action on the tragic incident caused by the flood outbreak, the people of Maiduguri deserve more than just a sympathetic message from the legislative organ of government at this critical moment.

Your donation of September salaries to Maiduguri flood victims will undoubtedly help in alleviating their hardship and put confidence in your constituents . This gesture Will shows that their representatives are committed to supporting those in need, particularly who wish to contribute personally to thier fellow citizens across the country and lack means do.

The National Assembly should urgently to call for an emergency sitting in both Upper and Lower Chambers to discuss these issues as a matter of urgency to save human lives.The sitting should have a title “Donations of September salaries to Maiduguri flood Victims “.after the sitting, and reach the agreement by the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate Chamber, the National Assembly should urge the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria to immediately release the donated funds .

Nevertheless, it is imperative for the National Assembly to consider and accept this call, as this incident has reached to them unawares and unprepared an in a time whereby the country is struggling with economic challenges, high cost of living, that led to the protests. The outbreak of this flood in Maiduguri has resulted in loss of lives, properties, and left some individuals homeless and hopeless. What a tragic situation! Imagine find your house and businesses destroyed in this economic challenges, how would you feel?This current situation of Maiduguri residents is is darkening and heartbreaking ,It is crucial to find solutions to alleviate their untold suffering and sadness.

Moreover, the state legislature should not fold their arms, waiting for their State governments to offer assistance to Borno State. Instead, they should find ways, as an organ of government in thier respective state to provide their own support and contributions in reducing the current situation.

Remember!, your contribution as members of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly to Maiduguri Residents affected by flood,is equivalent to representing the efforts of all your constituents in alleviating the suffering of their fellow citizens, especially those who are unable to provide personal support because they lack means .
