The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a new device to help Nigerians meet the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) deadline for linking their National Identification Number (NIN) to their SIM cards. According to Bauchi State Coordinator, Malam Ibrahim, the self-modification device allows users to update essential information like name, address, date of birth, and email address without visiting NIMC offices.
To assist subscribers, NIMC has also provided a web platform for those who are tech-savvy, enabling them to update their records directly from Android devices. This move is aimed at easing the pressure on physical offices as the deadline approaches.
Ibrahim further revealed that Bauchi State has received eight of these self-modification devices, which have been distributed across the state’s three senatorial districts. He assured the public that there are no challenges with the machines, and staff are readily available to assist individuals in need of support.
“We are fully equipped and prepared to serve the public,” Ibrahim said, emphasizing that all machines are functioning efficiently.
As the NCC’s NIN-SIM linkage deadline draws near, the introduction of these devices is expected to alleviate the stress of meeting the requirements, providing Nigerians with an easier way to comply. For those who haven’t yet linked their NIN to their SIM cards, the self-service tools offer a timely solution.
