The State Police Spokesperson, Bright Edafe in footage shared via his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, disclosed that the suspect was arrested at a hotel while negotiating the arms deal.
Edafe said, “We saw this young man negotiating to buy one AK-47 from kidnappers for the sum of ₦1.3 million. He claimed that he was lobbying to become number one in the Vikings Confraternity, and part of the requirement to be number one is to own at least one AK-47 rifle.”
Reacting to the allegation, the suspect confessed to his involvement, saying “I was arrested because I wanted to buy an AK-47. “I was asked to buy AK-47s because I was meant to be number one in the Vikings.”
The suspect, who had been in the cult group for six years, also admitted to managing a car wash and engaging in internet fraud, popularly called “Yahoo Yahoo.”
He said, “I have a car wash here that I manage, and I also deal in internet fraud. I deceive white women on the internet by claiming that I love them, and they send me money. I sometimes make N8m but share it with people who connect me.”
When asked if he regretted his life as a cultist, he said, “I feel very sad. Now I know I am nothing… no gain at all.”
