Although the Presidency did not state the purpose and duration of Tinubu’s visit, it said, “The President will return to the country after his brief work stay in France.”
The President is set to swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) at the State House Council Chambers later in the day to replace Justice Kayode Ariwoola, who retired yesterday upon the attainment of the mandatory retirement age of seventy.
It would be recalled that the National Judicial Council (NJC), on August 15, after its 106th meeting, recommended Justice Kekere-Ekun to Tinubu to emerge as the new CJN after the exit of Ariwoola.
Meanwhile, the presidency has confirmed President Tinubu would swear in Justice Kekere-Ekun today as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria.
This was made known in a post on Thursday via X by the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.
She would become the successor to Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who retired from service on Thursday, August 22, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of seventy years.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor and the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria , Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun tomorrow at the State House Council Chambers,” he wrote.
