UCL: Victor Osimhen Shines with Brace as Galatasaray Beat Bodø/Glimt 3-1 to Set New Milestone
Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has now set a new European record with his club side after scoring a brace against Bodø/Glimt.
The 26-year-old came off the bench to play 16 minutes in his side’s 2-1 win over Basaksehir, but returned to the starting lineup against the Norwegian side tonight.
He broke the deadlock three minutes into the game, sending the ball into the bottom corner, towards the left of Nikita Haikin’s goal.
The former Napoli striker scored his second goal of the game in the 33rd minute. A misplaced pass from Haitam Aleesami sent Osimhen through on goal, and he wasted no time in putting the ball into the back of the net.
Yunus Akgün completed the rout for Okan Buruk’s side on the hour mark, firing home from close range following yet another defensive error by the visitors.
Osimhen came off in the 73rd minute and was replaced by Mauro Icardi before Andreas Helmersen pulled one goal back for the Norwegian side three minutes later.
Osimhen sets new Galatasaray record
Prior to Galatasaray’s clash against Bodo/Glimt, the former LOSC Lille striker was tied with Burak Yilmaz, who scored in six successive European games for Galatasaray in 2012.
Following his double tonight, Osimhen now holds Galatasaray’s European consecutive goalscoring record, stretching the streak to seven games.
The 2025 CAF Player of the Year nominee can extend the record to eight games when Galatasaray travel to the Johan Cruijff ArenA to play against Ajax.
